‘Prime Hospital' is first private hospital in Dubai to receive US ‘Center of Excellence in Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery' certification

UAE, May 28, 2017- Prime Hospital, Dubai’s leading private, multi speciality hospital, has recently been accredited with the ‘Center of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery’ by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), an internationally recognized healthcare leader committed to advancing the safety, efficacy and efficiency of surgical care worldwide. Dr. Neil Hutcher, Chief Medical Officer & Vice President, SRC, headed the team that conducted the inspection of Prime Hospital.

The ‘Center of Excellence in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery’ program is a global patient safety and quality improvement initiative available to all bariatric surgeons and facilities worldwide. Statistics indicate that the rate of obesity in the UAE has reached around 30 per cent of the population, which is a growing problem and has become one of the most serious diseases facing all age groups because of the serious risks to health in general. It is the cause of several diseases such as diabetes high blood pressure, heart disease, the erosion of joints, difficulty breathing during sleep, acid reflux, depression, low fertility and menstrual disorders in females and other diseases.
