Emirates Post hosts UPU Symposium on Growth of EMS in Arab region

Dubai, March 12, 2017: Emirates Post Group hosted a symposium on ‘Positioning EMS for Growth’ for senior managements of Arab region from March 7 to 9 in Dubai, under the aegis of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).
The inaugural day’s program was addressed by Mr. Patrick Richon, Chairman of EMS Cooperative, Groupe La Poste, Ms. Jane Dyer, Manager, EMS Unit, UPU, and Acting CEO of Emirates Post Group Mr. Sultan Al Midfa, among others.
Mr. Sultan Al Midfa commented: “This UPU symposium provided innovative ideas on the growth of EMS, with special focus on success stories from the region and the challenges facing the region’s postal organisations. We are pleased to welcome the participants from the region and UPU representatives.”
In a message to the symposium, UPU Director General Bishar Hussein projected that over the next four-year period the EMS market share would grow faster that the e-commerce market growth, if EMS Cooperative members ensure high quality of service through consistent reliability and visibility, give customers the value-added features they want, ensure ease of use and price right to deliver a strong value proposition.
During the three-day symposium, there were presentations by officials from regional postal organisations, including Liban Post, Saudi Post, Poste Moroc, Tunisia Post, Algeria Post, Japan Post, Sudanese Postal Service and Emirates Post. There attendees were also briefed on the EMS Performance Award, which recognizes excellence in EMS among postal operators globally.
