Sharjah, 04 March 2017: The Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) has delivered a strong impetus to the UAE’s Emiratisation drive with ‘Register Your Attendance’ – a smart data collection initiative, which collected the latest and most accurate data of more than 3,000 job seeking Emiratis who walked into the National Career Exhibition 2017, held at Expo Centre Sharjah recently.
The data collected includes job applicants' basic information such as age, academic qualifications, occupational status, previous work experience and career aspirations, among other information, that will help enhance the accuracy of statistical data about the job market in Sharjah and the UAE.
Commenting on the great response received by the initiative, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of DSCD, said: “Register Your Attendance was planned and executed in line with the vision of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to invest in human capital, and enhance Emiratisation not just within the department, but across government and private sector entities.”
“The 3,000-plus turnout was massive, which makes this an impressive achievement for us. This database will go a long way in offering employers across industries looking for suitable candidates to fill their positions quickly and effectively. Additionally, we have also managed to solicit the views and opinions of every participating national about the job market, which adds significantly to the recruiters’ databases in Sharjah and the UAE,” he added.
The collected statistical data will constitute the nucleus of an integrated database covering in-demand jobs.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Director of DSCD, said: “A team of specialists from DSCD was deployed to conduct this survey at the three-day National Career Exhibition 2017. Our researchers specialised in collecting and sorting data in various economic and social sectors, have successfully gathered the kind of human resource intelligence, which will go a long way in assisting recruitment strategies and activities of various departments and organisations across the UAE.”
“The collected data will help increase employment opportunities for job seekers by sharing their updated information with the relevant bodies in Sharjah and the Federal Government, with a view to supporting Emiratisation and community development programmes,” he added.
With 95% of its employees comprising nationals, DSCD is one of the leading government entities driving Emiratisation in the UAE. Starting March 2017, they will run an eight-month training programme, which will train and develop the competencies of fresh Emirati recruits, a number of whom will be hired from among the survey participants who were interviewed at the National Career Exhibition 2017.
