Ducab Extends Support to Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation's salma Humanitarian Relief Program

‘Gift of Light’ Initiative Provides Halal Meals to Victims of Wars and Conflicts Worldwide

Dubai, UAE, July 3, 2016:  Dubai Cable Company (Ducab), in cooperation with the Awqaf and Minors Affair Foundation (AMAF), has announced the launch of the ‘Gift of Light’ initiative aiming to support the salma Humanitarian Relief Programme that offers halal meals to victims of wars and conflicts across the globe. 

With the initiative continuing throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid (until 9 July), Ducab will donate US$2 to the salma Humanitarian Relief Programme for every message written by visitors on the initiative’s website www.ducabgiftoflight.com. 

The ‘Gift of Light’ initiative is part of Ducab’s corporate social responsibility. It aims to support campaigns and projects that enhance people’s lives worldwide and help meet their demands, especially those that have been inflicted by wars and conflicts. 

Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Mutawa, Chief Commercial Officer at said, “In this Holy month of giving, Ducab hopes to contribute to alleviating malnutrition in the most disadvantaged communities, in partnership with The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation. This initiative is an important part of the company’s social responsibility mandate and we invite everybody to be a part of this unique humanitarian campaign just by sending a message on ducabgiftoflight.com.’’ 

For his part, His Excellency Tayeb Al Rais, Secretary General of AMAF said: “We highly appreciate Ducab’s initiative and our mutual partnership that started in 2015 with the company’s support to our Family Village project. This collaboration continues to prove vital in meeting the basic needs of orphans and bringing them joy.” 

Al Rais added: “Thanks to such contributions, we can continue our work to help more victims and underprivileged people across the world. We have already provided thousands of families in Palestine, Jordan, Yemen and the Philippines with food meals, and we hope to see an active local response to Ducab’s initiative.” 

AMAF launched the salma Humanitarian Relief Programme in 2014 in partnership with the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Center and Noor Awqaf, and in collaboration with the UN World Food Programme and Dubai International Humanitarian City that offers logistical support to the project. 

Donation to the salma project is possible via SMS messages. Etisalat and Du subscribers can donate AED10 to 7710, AED50 to 7750, and AED100 to 3100. Donors can also make their contributions to AMAF’s Dubai Islamic Bank’s account number 01-520-9451498-01.
