Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Organizes Specialized Workshop to Enhance Medical Researchers' Scientific Writing and Publishing Skills

As part of its “Research Cafe” initiative, the workshop equips researchers with essential tools to produce high-quality, publication-ready scientific work
Dubai, UAE, May 4, 2026: Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences organized a specialized training program titled “Essential Skills for Medical Researchers in Scientific Writing and Publishing” as part of its “Research Café” workshop. Held on May 2 and 3, the program offered six accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours and was delivered with the participation of four specialists from the Institute of Public Health at the United Arab Emirates University.
The workshop was organised as part of the Foundation’s commitment to supporting researchers and empowering them with essential skills that enhance the quality of scientific writing and elevate the readiness of research for publication in line with recognized academic and professional standards.
Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, said: “This workshop reflects the Foundation’s commitment to supporting researchers and empowering them with the essential skills needed to enhance the quality of scientific writing and improve the readiness of research for publication in accordance with recognized academic and professional standards. The workshop forms part of the Foundation’s efforts to support scientific research and advance the skills of researchers in medical fields through a practical training program focused on the fundamental aspects of preparing scientific research and developing it for publication. This contributes to enhancing the quality of research outputs and ensuring their alignment with recognized academic and professional requirements.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Iffat Elbarazi, Associate Professor at the Institute of Public Health at the United Arab Emirates University; Dr. Azhar Rahma, Instructor at the Institute of Public Health; Dr. Rouwida El Khalil, PhD, Institute of Public Health; and Dr. Emad Masuadi, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Public Health. Their participation reflected the specialized nature of the program and its connection to academic and research expertise in the health field.
The program included four main training modules delivered over two days. The first day focused on the foundations of scientific writing, including research framing, preparing the abstract and introduction, writing the methodology, and presenting results with clarity. The second day addressed manuscript completion, research ethics, the use of artificial intelligence in writing, and scientific publishing mechanisms, with a focus on writing the discussion and conclusion, reference management, selecting scientific journals, and understanding peer-review procedures.
The workshop reflected the Foundation’s direction toward providing specialized knowledge platforms that contribute to building research capacities and enhancing researchers’ readiness to meet the requirements of rigorous scientific publishing, particularly amid the rapid developments taking place in research tools, methodologies, and ethical standards.
Through this initiative, Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences continues to strengthen its role in supporting scientific and knowledge excellence, developing national and academic competencies, and contributing to enhancing the quality of scientific research in medical and health fields.
