Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited, a global leading wireless solutions provider, is pleased to announce it will collaborate with Hong Kong’s Applied Science, Technology and Research Institute (ASTRI) to establish the ASTRI-Comba Joint Research and Development Laboratory, to focus on smart city and smart home technologies.
The agreement between the two entities will facilitate an integrated, strategic cooperation to boost research-and-development efforts in the smart city and smart home arenas. Through this collaboration, the providers will also explore new applications of existing smart city and smart home technologies.
Comba Telecom’s growing footprint in the Middle East – with solutions deployed in high-density public hotspots within the UAE, KSA, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain – will allow the provider to channel these smart city innovations into the region. The region’s governments have invested heavily in initiatives geared at embracing a smart future, and Comba’s efforts will supplement these through its presence within the region.
Ming-yam Wong, chairman of the board of directors at ASTRI said, “The joint lab marks a new milestone in our cooperation with Comba, and together we will contribute our efforts to the transformation and betterment of Hong Kong and beyond through our smart city and smart home technologies.”
Simon Yeung, president of Comba Telecom said, “We believe that ASTRI’s professional expertise and Comba’s global business platform and R-and-D strengths will boost innovations in the smart city field, as well as technology development in Hong Kong and the global society.”
