Dubai, UAE, June 5, 2016: From monitoring your heartbeat to checking the weather, from replying to texts, social media notifications to listening to your favorite music, the possibilities are endless on the Gear S2; it’s all in just a turn of the rotating bezel. Since the launch of Samsung’s Gear S2 last year, the smartwatch has embarked on a remarkable evolutionary process with upgrades to its software and improved user experience. In other to meet user’s dynamic needs, Samsung have adopted an agile development approach to guarantee product innovation at an ever faster rate. Diving into the features that drives the Gear S2, below are a few key mechanisms and their corresponding functions that make the Gear S2 what it is – a state-of-the-art smartwatch.
Wireless Charging: The Gear S2 has a built-in wireless charging feature that can easily be setup on the optional wireless charging dock. With this feature, it is now very easy to keep the Gear S2 all powered up.
Customizable Watch Faces and Songs: The Gear S2 comes with a selection of customizable watch face designs to make it a device built for all occasions. The Gear S2 also allows you to store over 300 of your favorite audio songs with the option to play them via Bluetooth.
9-axis Pedometer: The Gear S2’s 9-Axis pedometer tool allows you to easily set a step target and accurately follow how much steps you take on a daily basis. A combination* of this step-counting tool and a personal target step goal is particularly effective. Having a set goal of how many steps you make daily, against your plan can be particularly helpful to meet your daily exercise needs.
Heart Rate Sensor: The Heart Rate Sensor measures, accumulates and records the user’s heart rate. It is recommended** to at least engage in 150 minutes of moderate activities or around 75 minutes of strenuous aerobic exercises that increases your heart rate and breathing per week for an overall cardiovascular health in adults.
Gyroscope: The Gyroscope feature measures axis of rotation based on the movement of one’s arm; taking into account key metrics such as weight, shape and speed. It is also embedded with a very responsive Wake-Up Gesture. Whenever you turn your wrist to check the time, the display will burst into life to show an animated watch face.
Barometer: The Barometer originally measures atmospheric pressure with the aim of forecasting the weather and also to determine altitudes. The Gear S2 also makes use of the Barometer to measure caloric decrease or increase during exercise.
Accelerometer: The Accelerometer calculates the acceleration associated with a change in movement; in conjunction with other features, automatically tracking increased activity and categorizing it as an exercise and also encouraging you with motivational messages. Similarly, it will also notify you if you have been inactive for a certain period of time and encourage you to get moving.
In addition to the above, Gear S2 users also have full access to other innovative features such as flight mode, adaptive display brightness, and ambient light sensor – responsible for adjusting the brightness of the screen's back-light in accordance to the light level of its surroundings, with the aim of improving battery life. The Gear S2 Sport and Classic editions retail for AED 799 and AED 999 respectively.
