Dubai Health Authority’s monthly initiative provides the public an opportunity to directly ask DHA officials their queries.
Dubai, UAE, May 26, 2016: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) held recently the monthly ‘Leaders at Your Service’ initiative and the head of Latifa Hospital, the Emirate’s largest women and children hospital, directly addressed public queries.
This initiative takes place every month and provides customers with an opportunity to directly express their feedback, suggestions and complaints to senior DHA leaders.
Dr Muna Tahlak, CEO of Latifa Hospital engaged with customers on various topics related to services provided at Latifa Hospital.
Dr Tahlak highlighted that Latifa Hospital is a baby-friendly hospital and that the hospital receives a high volume of cases and specialises in providing high quality care for complicated cases, many of which are often referrals from other hospitals in Dubai and other Emirates.
All low risk pregnancies are followed-up at DHA’s primary healthcare centres for routine appointments until the time of delivery, thus making the hospital a nerve-centre for high-risk pregnancies.
Speaking about the neonatal services and unit at Latifa Hospital, she said the hospital is highly equipped. She also advised pregnant women to select their hospital after enquiring about all the services available at the hospital, especially the neonatal services which is crucial in case of preterm delivery.
Dr Tahlak said that the expansion of the neonatal intensive care unit( NICU) was completed in July 2015 and the NICU bed capacity has increased from 48 to 64 beds. The NICU level III beds also increased from 21 to 33 and the hospital added two rooms with 4 beds for family centered care so that the mother can stay with the baby during preparation for discharge, ensuring a quicker discharge if the mother is confident and of course if baby is ready.
In 2004, the total number of babies born were 5586, of which 496 were preterm babies and in 2015 the total number of babies born were 5372 of which 581 were preterm babies.
Several queries were addressed during the two-hour live session.
Sheikha Al Rahoomi, director of customer relations department at the DHA highlighted the importance of this initiative and said: “This initiative provides customers with a direct platform to communicate with the leaders of the DHA and give their suggestions, feedback or complaints.
All calls received during the two-hour live session are recorded and promptly followed-up. In addition to this, the DHA has several platforms for customers to communicate with us.”
Al Rahoomi said during this initiative customers can call 800 342 to directly speak to the leaders selected.
