Baume & Mercier Celebrates Cinema by becoming the main partner of the “Taormina Film Festival”

CANNES, 14 May 2016 – Baume & Mercier will be the main partner of the 62nd “Taormina Film Fest”, which will take place from 11 to 18 June in the magical setting of the Greek Theatre in Taormina, Italy. Richard Gere will be the Honorary president.

This year, the Geneva-based watch brand decided to pay tribute to the “Taormina Film Fest” with a limited-edition Clifton timepiece, which will be awarded to the winner of the “Clifton Taormina Award”.

This model has been designed to celebrate the art of film – the 39 mm 18K red gold case is enhanced by the sapphire case back adorned with the festival’s logo, while the design of its minuterie track is reminiscent of a film reel. It will be produced in a series of 62 pieces to celebrate the 62nd edition of the “Taormina Film Fest” and will be available from June 2016, exclusively in Italy.

Alain Zimmermann, CEO of Baume & Mercier, will present an award to six international figures. Male actors will receive the “Clifton Taormina Award” watch, our classical round range, while the actresses will receive the “Promesse Taormina Award” and will be given a watch from the Promesse collection, our last feminine launch.

The first “Clifton Taormina Award” limited edition watch will be presented by Baume & Mercier CEO Alain Zimmermann to Richard Gere, during the dinner for the “Time Out of Mind” movie premiere at the American Embassy in Rome on 8 June.

The watch will be put up for auction in Taormina on 11 June, during the opening night of the Festival. The proceeds will go to the FIO.Psd Foundation on behalf of the “Housing First” project and the #HomelessZero campaign.
