Dubai, UAE, 19 April 2016: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) won 6 awards during the 19th Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP). DEWA received awards in the categories of Distinguished Government Entity, Financially Distinguished Performance, Distinguished Entity in Government Communications, Distinguished Creative Idea, and Distinguished Technical/Engineering Employee, and the Unknown Soldier award. HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, thanked the vision and directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and stressed that because of this vision, DEWA will continue to achieve success with its ambitious initiatives, development projects, and ongoing efforts to be at the forefront by adopting the highest international standards, in line with its vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility. Al Tayer thanked HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, and HH Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Deputy Ruler of Dubai, for their leadership and supporting the performance of government organisations, while working to improve them based on the highest international standards.
Al Tayer commended DGEP and noted that the program creates an environment that encourages government organisations to adopt excellence and innovation. Al Tayer also noted that this achievement is a result of the directives of the wise government, and the level of teamwork at DEWA, which is an element that DEWA relies on to increase productivity and achieve ongoing development.
“We are proud to have one these awards as part of DGEP 2016, launched in 1997 by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to enable the government sector with to actively manage the challenges faced by a new era, developing the performance of government organisations by continuous training programs and keeping up to date with the latest updates in the international community, while becoming familiar with the best international practices and successful experiences. Today’s win is a direct result of adhering to the wise words of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who said ‘Excellence is not attained by hopes, it can only be achieved by exertion of efforts and hard work.’” Added Al Tayer.
