UAE, March 23, 2016 - Officials and employees of the Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) have reaffirmed their pledge to support the national efforts directed towards the adoption of happiness in its operations, culture and lifestyle while also stressing on the importance of positive energy as an integral factor in the efforts to enhance job performance and making significant contributions in achieving goals and objectives set by the theme, ‘Creating a distinct legal environment through leading legislation and effective and rational legal opinions.' The announcement came on the sidelines of the celebration of the ‘International Day of Happiness', which falls in line with the SLC's continuing commitment to effectively contribute in the efforts to achieve the goals set by the UAE's wise leadership--making the people happy and satisfied and ensuring the welfare of the community.
The pledge given by the SLC officials and employees was part of the activities held as part of the celebrations for International Day of Happiness. This was followed by the distribution of copies of ‘National Charter for Happiness & Positivity', which was launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as a first-of-its-kind initiative that seeks to create a happy environment for UAE society.
H.E. Ahmad Bin Meshar, Secretary General of the SLC, stated that the celebrations were part of the SLC's move to create an integrated work environment that openly promotes the concepts of happiness, creativity and innovation and the ability to spread positive energy in the hearts of its employees--which are considered to be key drivers to success, excellence and leadership. H.E. Bin Meshar pointed out that happiness, positivism and innovation represents the fundamental pillars of the SLC and also demonstrates its continuing support for the wise directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in making the UAE as the happiest country in the world.
H.E. Bin Meshar, added: “The launching of the ‘National Charter for Happiness & Positivity' places a big responsibility on us and that is to be able to take solid steps towards providing the essential tools needed in developing positivism, excellence, productivity and the achievement of happiness, which is the UAE's wise leadership's ultimate goal. Also, we are intensifying efforts to develop a fully efficient and reliable legal and regulatory system that will continue to uphold the rule of law and legitimacy and to lay a solid foundation that reflects the goals and objectives set in Dubai Plan 2021--making Dubai as the home of creative and innovative members that are full of pride and happiness.”

In line with this, the ‘National Charter for Happiness & Positivity' is the country's strongest push to achieving the happiness of its citizens, expatriates and visitors and the wellbeing of the community as a whole. The SLC is committed to include happiness in its list of strategic priorities and national commitments, as well as enabling our employees to have the positive energy that could help them overcome challenges and seize opportunities that supports our vision, which is centered towards developing an integrated legislative system that will contribute to the success of sustainable development plans and push the march of progress, growth and prosperity,” concluded H.E. Bin Meshar.
The celebration for the ‘International Day of Happiness' included a series of interactive sessions and distribution of gifts to SLC employees, who expressed their appreciation for the General Secretary's continuing efforts to provide them with a conducive work environment that allows them to apply their creative abilities and develop their potential, which in turn, gives them happiness, satisfaction and the drive to achieve higher levels of excellence.
