Dubai, UAE, March 22, 2016: Leading luxury jewellery design house, Azza Fahmy, introduces an exquisite nine-piece limited edition Cocktail Ring collection, now available at Bloomingdale’s-Dubai.
Designed by Amina Ghali, Head of Design and the daughter of founder Azza Fahmy, the stunning hand-crafted statement rings - of which only 15 pieces of each have been created - reflect both the cocktail ring’s Egyptian origin and Victorian nature inspired themes.
Azza Fahmy’s distinctive individual layers of 18ct Gold and sterling silver are combined with intricate set gemstones including diamonds, amethyst, lemon & rose quartz, Ethiopian green opals, blood red rubies, tanzanite and earthy tones of smokey topaz, complemented with intricate fine floral filigree and ajouré shank detailing.
This unique collection includes the striking cabochon style 30ct amethyst ring surrounded by a halo of diamonds that open to reveal the inscription ‘joy’, and the bejewelled scarab ring which features the Khepri Beetle with diamond encrusted head and tail, is seen carrying the sun in the form of an amethyst or 5ct Blue Topaz stone. Also the covetable Ottoman Garden ring with Victoriana influence, featuring a bold 50ct smokey topaz stone with pavé diamonds and floral ajouré shank detailing.
The origin of the cocktail ring dates back to ancient Egypt, with the wearing of large rings, with designs such as the scarab beetle, which signified a ‘new day’. The cocktail ring gained popularity in the 1920’s during prohibition in the US where the term ‘cocktail’ was coined for the creation of a palatable drink. The name was then extended to bold cocktail rings fashioned with Art Deco influences and symbolising cultural social status.
The Azza Fahmy collection captures elements of history and a spirit of decadence using time-honoured techniques to create a sophisticated collection of ‘must have’ designs.
The collection is available at Bloomingdale’s – Dubai located at The Dubai Mall.
