The much-awaited 5k neon night run, held in collaboration with organisers Fast Track, will feature a colorful combination of lights demonstrations, music and fitness in one fun-filled experience, and comes as part of a series of entertaining activities and unique fitness events presented by Shurooq.
Fast Track, the organizing body of Electric Run, affirms that tickets are still available for sports-enthusiasts and fitness-lovers who wish to experience a more unique and thrilling run.
Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Chief Operating Officer of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), said: "We are truly delighted to be a part of this widespread international event, which has toured major cities around the globe including London, Chicago, New York, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Now in Sharjah, we look forward to welcoming all visitors and sports enthusiasts taking part in the run, and are looking forward to their key roles in lightening up the Al Majaz Waterfront, Sharjah’s leading tourism destination for leisure and family tourism. The 5K Electric Run in Sharjah will feature a series of thrilling sports and entertainment activities which are located in multiple tourist and leisure destinations in Sharjah."
Mr. Al Qaseer added: "All preparations have been finalized and we are moving ahead as scheduled. We would like to take this opportunity and thank the organizers Fast Track and all the event’s sponsors for choosing Sharjah as one of their global destinations to host this event. We are expecting the run to draw a big turnout of UAE residents and particularly tourists, who will witness first hand some of Sharjah’s beautiful sites during their run. Our mission is to continuously align ourselves with strategic business and leisure events to promote Sharjah’s culture, diverse tourism and its popular destinations to the world."
Electric Run’s debut event in the UAE completely sold out when it took Dubai’s Meydan by a storm on November 6th, 2015 followed by a sweeping success at the Abu Dhabi event on 29 January 2016 at the capital’s iconic sporting venue, Yas Marina Circuit. This year’s run marks its debut in Sharjah, which is set to kick-start from 7:00pm until 12:00am (midnight).
Main roads in Sharjah to be closed during the Electric Run event will include the Corniche Street, the waterfront side of Khalid Lagoon (Buheirah): starting from the Public Coffee Shop to Al Majaz Island, from Friday 25th March until Sunday 27th March 2016.
David Sanderson, Race Director at Fast Track said: "We’re pleased to bring Electric Run to Sharjah after it toured more than 30 major cities across the world. Electric Run will transform Sharjah’s Al Majaz Waterfront into one of the most vibrant places in the world. The event will also have family members and their friends partake in an unforgettable experience featuring a mix of lights, fitness and music in one of the world's most social fun run experiences."
