February 15, 2016- United Foods Company (UFC), a leading Emirati food company in the Middle East, has announced its participation at the Gulfood 2016, the latest edition of the world’s largest annual food and hospitality show taking place from February 21 to 25, 2016 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The company is looking to further strengthen its presence in the local, regional and international food industry by showcasing its diverse portfolio of ghee, edible oils, butters and margarine products. UFC will throw the spotlight on its flagship brand - Aseel which has a strong leadership in ghee segment, along with other categories including oils, butter and margarine with leading brands, Mumtaz, Nawar and Safi. In addition, the company will use Gulfood platform to announce the launch of their new range of products.
Through its participation, UFC aims to address the opportunities for the UAE’s expanding food and beverage sector which is expected to grow at an annual rate of 4 per cent to touch USD 13.2 billion in 2018. Spending on food and beverages in the UAE is expected to record a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8 per cent during the period from 2012 to 2018, driven by the country’ rising population and opening up of new food and beverage outlets. In addition, a recent industry report indicates that Dubai’s food sector currently accounts for 10 per cent of the emirate’s industrial production.
Fethi Khiari, CEO, United Foods Company, said: “We are participating at Gulfood 2016 to throw the spotlight on our range of food products as well as launch new items in ‘Arab Traditional Food’ and ‘Healthy Food’ categories. The Middle East’s high rate of obesity is a serious concern as it leads to many diseases. Moreover, people associate some food items such as ghee with obesity and heart disorders, which is not a complete truth. As a leading regional food company, UFC takes it as a responsibility to correct their notion about health benefits of such foods as well as conduct research and innovation to develop food products that ensure their good health and well-being. We are confident that our product line will take centre stage at Gulfood. As a gathering of prominent business leaders and companies from the food industry, it will give us a strategic platform to reinforce our position as a preferred choice in the food industry’s ghee, edible oils, butter and margarine segment.”
Gulfood 2016 has positioned itself as the world’s leading food trading platform, hosting more than 5,000 companies from over 120 countries. It expects a visitor footfall in excess of 85,000 and visits from heads of state, ministers, government officials, and national trade associations from all over the world. Gulfood is an ideal venue to connect with suppliers, sign deals with international exhibitors, and get high returns on investment via networking.
“UFC is an Emirati company which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. We are guided by qualities such as integrity, excellence and innovation to deliver superior-quality food solutions that are tasty, healthy and nutritious. We look forward to our participation in Gulfood 2016 and welcome visitors to our stand to give us an opportunity to interact with them and inform them about our products,” concluded Khiari.
UFC will be present at Stand CC8-18 in Concourse 2 of the Dubai World Trade Centre.
