Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer meets Nasser Al Suwaidi to enhance cooperation

Dubai, UAE, 15 February 2016: HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy met with HE Nasser Al Suwaidi, Member of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Energy Authority. They discussed ways to enhance cooperation to achieve the UAE Vision 2021 to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world by 2021, and to strengthen UAE’s position as a global role model in achieving the highest standards of energy efficiency, and increasing the share of renewable and clean energy. The meeting is part of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy’s efforts to exchange skills and experiences with other government, federal, and local organisations, to achieve the UAE’s vision of enhancing the government’s capabilities, especially energy. HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at DEWA, also attended.
Al Tayer welcomed Al Suwaidi and commended the extensive efforts made by the government of Abu Dhabi in energy and sustainability. Al Tayer presented the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030.
Al Tayer noted that the Council had reviewed and updated the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy for 2030, with the launch of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to produce 75% of Dubai’s energy from clean sources by 2050.
Al Tayer also emphasised the importance of enhancing sustainability and making efficient use of clean and renewable energy to assure sufficient future electricity and water supplies to support the sustainable development of the UAE, and to meet the economic aspirations and needs of generations to come.
