“We congratulate His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on the launch of the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, the largest ever cultural project in the Arab World. It is one of the leading initiatives launched by His Highness to benefit the whole region. While the Arab World faces many challenges, the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, with its printed, audio, and electronic books, is a unique opportunity for 42 million readers in the Arab World. This project is a sign of hope: a beacon that lights the way and revives the hope of achieving a real knowledge renaissance in all Arab countries. It will bring about positive change in Arab societies by raising a generation who value reading and culture as important tools in the development of people and progress of countries,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“This initiative supports the role of Dubai and the UAE as drivers of innovation and creativity in the region. It will contribute to the building of a generation that is capable of facing their challenges by transferring and localising knowledge, supporting knowledge capabilities in the Arab World, stimulating intellectual production, and increasing scientific and cultural output. This in turn, will support the sustainable development, as His Highness observed, “The development of human capital is the global currency of the 21st century economies, and the only way to achieve sustainable development,” added Al Tayer.
