DEWA organises Business Continuity Management awareness programmes for employees

Dubai, UAE, 31 January 2016:  Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Risk Management department, in collaboration with the UK’s Business Continuity Institute (BCI), has organised a series of programmes to raise awareness about business continuity management. The move is part of DEWA’s on-going commitment to adopting to the highest standards of practice, to assure business continuity in the event of any emergency or disaster, and to make use of all supporting tools to ensure that all standards are met. 

“We are pleased to be working alongside the Business Continuity Institute, who have enabled us to provide our employees with training programmes, and courses. This collaboration supports the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to focus on staff development, as our employees are essential to the growth of Dubai and fuel the on-going development of this city,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“As part of our focus on raising the level of awareness regarding business continuity management among employees, and our unceasing efforts to achieve our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, DEWA will continue to organise such programmes in support of Dubai’s sustainable development process, assuring business continuity at the highest standards of accountability and efficiency. Business Continuity has become an important element of emergency and disaster management, as it allows for organisations like DEWA to continue to carry out its operations, even during a disaster, up until such time as it can is once again operate at full efficiency.”

DEWA’s recent awareness programmes featured lectures and presentations on the importance of business continuity management and how it is implemented into DEWA’s corporate culture, and also clarified the relationship between crisis management, and the management of Health & Safety continuity, in addition to highlighting the most efficient ways of adopting the concept to ensure all business operations are carried out successfully and efficiently.

Employees who successfully passed the business continuity management test were awarded with credited certificates from the Business Continuity Institute, by Al Tayer.
