Dubai, UAE, 20 January 2016: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has awarded a contract to extend its water network, at a cost of AED 130 million, to meet increasing needs for water and building infrastructure for the future, to achieve the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to develop Dubai's position as a global hub for trade, and finance.
“Through a variety of projects, DEWA continues to increase its level of efficiency in all its operations, to support sustainable development in the Emirate. These projects include the 600-1200 millimetre per diameter extension of GRE (Glass-Reinforced Epoxy) main water pipelines, using the NDRC (Non-Destructive Road Crossing) tunnel-digging method to protect the infrastructure and services for major water transmission networks located around the Emirate, at a total cost of AED 130 million,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
The project is expected to be completed within 30 months of its start date. The NDRC network will be launched and will be fully-operational once all extension work has been completed.
