Middle East, 18 November 2015 – NEC Display Solutions has announced the launch of the MDC212C2, a 2MP display designed specifically for diagnostic imaging applications. These include image reporting in CT/ PET, MRI, fluoroscopy, dental, cardiology, oncology, ultrasound and other medical imaging techniques. The NEC MDC212C2 is the first display of the NEC MDC (Medical Display Clinical) Series that is certified for diagnostic imaging.
Today’s healthcare professionals want real-time, reliable, and accurate diagnostics through technology. Medical displays need to have integrated functionality to improve performance, reliability, and lower costs. The MDC212C2 display works with GammaCompMD QA calibration software to maintain the display’s conformance to the DICOM standard (Part 14). It also meets the quality assurance tests required in different European countries (e.g. IEC62563-1, DIN 6868-157).
The MDC212C2 display can be used for colour and grayscale digital images. It also features the sensors offered by the MD Series such as front sensor, ambient light sensor and a proximity sensor, which ensure long-lasting white point and luminance. With all the sensors included and the focus on reliable quality, the design of the MDC212C2 is very slim and modern.
With a maximum luminance of 440cd/m² it offers enough margin for long-term use. Combined with a LED backlight and wide viewing angle (178 degrees horizontal and vertical, allowing very high colour reproduction), this makes it the perfect display for any demanding medical environment.
Two other firsts to the MDC Series are the Quick Screen QA function, so the DICOM conformance test can be performed without the need to install any special software on the workstation, and the QC Scheduler. This starts an automated process for calibration and DICOM conformance testing, directly carried out by the display.
“This launch draws on NEC’s huge experience in the medical display market, and combines that depth of knowledge with required medical certification (EU Medical Device Directive, FDA pending) and the latest image processing technologies. Altogether, it makes this new model a perfect fit combining features from traditional reviewing displays with very high specified diagnostic displays depending on the needs,” said Erik Elbert, Product Engineer for Medical Display Solutions, at NEC Display Solutions Europe.
