DIPTYQUE NEW part two of THE COLLECTION 34
Last Update: Monday, November 2, 2015 : 10:42 (+4GMT)
Dubai, November 2, 2015: Launched in 2014, The Collection 34 recaptures the spirit of the very first shop of diptyque’s founders Christiane Gautrot, Desmond Knox-Leet and Yves Coueslant, who have always displayed their textile creations alongside limited editions of objects unearthed here and there. A delightful mixture of genres that continue to influence each new item introduced by the House. Today, the collection is embarking on a new chapter. Guided only by desire. In other words, true luxury.
NEW Essences Insensées eau de parfum
Jasmine in excess
Part two of Essences Insensées EDP (sensory essences) launches in Middle East. A composition that reflects the rhythm of the land and the whimsical nature of the flowers that vary from one year to the next. A fragrance that demands extreme patience as it is necessary to wait until the end of the year to know which harvest was the best. Following mimosa in 2014, jasmine provides the inspiration for this new opus. A very special kind of jasmine. Grown in Grasse, at the centre of the perfume industry, it isn’t picked until autumn, at the very end of the season, when it has a fruity, almost candied quality.
A type of jasmine that the perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin, a regular partner of the diptyque house, knows simply by its smell, as it reminds him of his grandmother, who used to pick these flowers and whose aprons would give off this unforgettable smell. To perfect this rich profusion of jasmine, he used two different harvests, one from the autumn, with its delicious strawberry accents, and the other, which is more classic, petalled and heady. The word sensory resonates on the skin: the bouquet opens delicately with an essence of basil; it unravels and expands, like a flower that continues to bloom. An incredibly pure olfactory fractal, so voluminous that you expect to find a tuberose flower nestled within.
A fragrant wonder packaged inside a bottle by Waltersperger, the last semiautomatic glass-maker in France. The amber glass is tinted in the ground, hence why no two bottles are the same.
Essences Insensées is also available as a solid perfume enclosed in a metal case
NEW Le Redouté (black pepper) & La Prouveresse (fig & cypress) candles
A whirlwind of scents and ceramics
Created in 2014 for the launch of the collection 34, the scented candle known as Le Redouté (feared) will be joined in 2015 by another olfactory creation dedicated to the House. Le Redouté was originally a potpourri devised by diptyque’s founders. The few grams preserved over the decades had miraculously embalmed when they were found. This is what inspired the creation of this 220 g candle presented inside a cream and black ceramic holder.
Today, another part of the founders’ history is being retold via the collection 34’s scented candles. La Prouveresse is the name of a lane that Yves Coueslant would take when he stayed at his house near Grasse. A path lined with fig and cypress trees, aromatic herbs and crunchy leaves. It was this sun-drenched trail that inspired the perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin to create a fragrance that incorporated the woody scent of fig trees and the rustic notes of the south.
Presented inside a ceramic pot hand-crafted in Portugal just like Le Redouté, this new candle showcases previously unseen colours. A monochrome of bluish-grey and black porcelain clay and cut grass which, when mixed by hand, combine to form a unique hue. Within this random collection of shades, which collide and then merge into one, there is plethora of poetic accidents that make this object like no other. It takes three days for each pot to come to life...
