Perrelet Turbine Skeleton -The Turbine reveals its inner workings
Last Update: Tuesday, June 16, 2015 : 18:44 (+4GMT)
Perrelet is over 200 years old and lives in step with its time while honoring its rich tradition of high-quality watchmaking. It mingles its technical expertise with a flair for contemporary aesthetics in creating the Turbine Skeleton collection. For the very first time, the Maison combines a skeleton movement with a turbine, thereby completely reinventing its iconic model: the details and dimensions are redesigned and the materials are evolving, as Perrelet takes on a new challenge thanks to a unique horological concept.
The very nature of a skeleton timepiece lies in playing with transparency effects. That is precisely what Perrelet achieves by entirely skeletonizing its finely crafted in-house movement, Caliber P-381, featuring cut-out effects revealing its inner workings. The Perrelet engravers and watchmakers demonstrate peerless finesse in performing this stunning skeletonization requiring a high degree of competence and accurate knowledge of the movement’s technical constraints.
The finely trimmed components and finishes add a final touch to the beauty of the movement. Perrelet also masters these transparency effects in aesthetic terms, since they represent the main feature of the concept behind the Turbine collections. On this model, the aluminum turbine is directly mounted on the under-dial, itself open worked so as not to obstruct the view inside. When spinning at full speed, the movement’s ethereal architecture is revealed through each of its openings. Never before had it been possible to admire skeleton movements in such a fascinating way.
The 44 mm-diameter case of this new collection is available in steel with a black PVD coating, or fitted with a 4N pink gold bezel. The inner bezel ring ensures optimal readability thanks to luminescent Arabic numerals and hour-markers. The hour and minute hands are coated in Superluminova, while the red seconds hand stands out clearly against this backdrop.
The timepieces in the Turbine Skeleton collection are fitted with innovative black bi-material straps: calfskin leather
with a polyurethane core to guarantee ergonomics and a comfortable feel on the wrist; or black rubber for a resolutely
sporty look.
The Turbine Skeleton adopts a chic tone and asserts its own style. While drawing upon the watchmaking codes rooted in the brand DNA, this exceptional model is an undeniably contemporary timepiece that will appeal as much to watchmaking connoisseurs as to design lovers.
