Dubai, UAE, January 1, 2022: Global Village, the UAE and wider region's leading multicultural family destination for culture, shopping, and entertainment, created the perfect setting to ring in the New Year in style with eight spectacular firework displays to mark the arrival of 2022 in eight countries across the world.
Festivities started with the arrival of New Year in Australia with daytime fireworks held for the first time in Dubai at 5pm. The celebrations and fireworks continued throughout the night as different countries celebrated midnight with a very special extravaganza when the UAE welcomed the New Year. But the festivities weren’t over at midnight as the last fireworks display burst over Global Village at 1am to mark the New Year in Russia.
Waleef, Global Village’s new character, was live-streamed to the Main Stage screens as he travelled to each country using his magical staff. Global Village guests were also able to see how the celebrations were unfolding live in eight cities around the world.
With thousands of families in attendance, guests explored great shopping opportunities at 26 country pavilions and enjoyed the wide range of delicious culinary options at the Park throughout the fireworks extravaganza.
Year after year, Global Village celebrates countries and cultures from around the world and this New Year was no exception. Festivities continue at Global Village with Russian Christmas until January 8.
