Dubai, May 18, 2015: Emirates Post Group celebrated International Thalassemia Day in collaboration with Dubai Thalassemia Center, attended by the staff of Dubai Thalassemia Center and volunteers from Emirates Post Group, who organized an educational program for the thalassemia patients, and distributed gifts.
Mr. Ibrahim Bin Karam, Chief Commercial Officer, EPG, said the event was in line with the UAE’s strategy of serving the community and getting involved with humanitarian issues through regular initiatives. Such events boost the role of EPG in helping the community in general.
Mr. Bin Karam added that Emirates Post Group had developed a plan for 2015 to conduct four blood donation campaigns to support Thalassemia patients, the first of which was held in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Blood Bank in Abu Dhabi, part of Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in cooperation with the first Postal Zone in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of officials and customers of the Central Post Office. This was followed by blood donation drives in EPG head office and Karama Central Post Office in Dubai, followed by one in Sharjah and Ajman Central Post Offices. These events helped reinforce the message that blood donation is a noble humanitarian act that helps affects the lives of thousands of patients who are in need of blood transmission, especially the thalassemia patients.
