Minimally Invasive Surgery and NOTES conference to share latest developments
Abu Dhabi, May 18, 2015: With technology getting updated every day, it becomes imperative for the medical fraternity to keep informed about the developments taking place. The two-day 'Second International Emirates Conference on Minimally Invasive Surgery and NOTES' aims to bring surgeons and doctor fraternity on one platform to gain comprehensive knowledge of new techniques and technologies related to the most advance updates in minimally invasive surgery and Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery (Notes). Conference will be held between May 21 and May 22 at Rosewood Hotel, Abu Dhabi, and will witness 32 doctors from 11 countries to share their in-depth knowledge about particular aspect of surgery.
Talking about the need for such conferences, Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, Managing Director, VPS Healthcare, said, "We have been regularly trying to make sure that the medical fraternity in UAE should have an upper hand when it comes to latest techniques available. This conference has been designed to make sure that we not only gain from knowledge of other countries but also document the knowledge that medical fraternity in UAE enjoys. Minimally invasive techniques and NOTES are important tools nowadays as people are concerned about the scars, pains and incision during surgeries. We as doctors have the responsibility to address the medical issues but what better way to do it then giving them less pain and incisions wherever possible."
The event is expected to inspire and connect leaders, decision makers, doctors, scientists, technologists, public servants and academics to enhance the awareness about updates in surgery.
Prof. Dr. Tahar Benhidjeb , Chairman and Consultant, Department of Surgery, Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi, said, "There will be sessions on robotic surgery also during the conference. Robotic surgery can be used in general, cardiothoracic, gynaecological, gastroenterological, urologic, colon and rectal surgery, and much more, and has become one of the fastest growing fields of surgery. While robotic surgery is a fast-growing sector of medicine, the concept is new to the UAE. With less pain experienced by patients, reduced hospital stay, and minimal scarring, patients usually return to normal life in a matter of days."
