Calling all movie fans! May the VOX be with you on May 15th
Dubai, May 12, 2015: What do the movies Gladiator, Cast Away, The Beach, Miss Congeniality, Billy Elliot, Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai, Mohabbatein, El Nazer and VOX Cinemas have in common? Answer: they are all 15 years old and still going strong.
VOX Cinemas, the region's largest and fastest growing cinema exhibitor opened its first screen in 2000 in Ajman and now has 129 across the region and ten cinemas in the UAE after announcing the launch of its latest at Burjuman Mall, Dubai which opens this week. In the past 15 years, it has screened 5,000 movies to an audience of more than 50 million people – the equivalent of more than five times the UAE's population (9.4million).
To celebrate turning 15 in 2015, like child actor Willow Shields (who plays Primrose Evergreen, Katniss's sister in the Hunger Games), VOX Cinemas is throwing a party at its Mall of Emirates Cinema and – unlike the uber exclusive Academy Awards after party – everyone is invited.
On Friday May 15th VOX Cinemas is hosting the ‘Voscars', in conjunction with Virgin Radio Breakfast Show's Kris Fade and team – a full day of fun movie-related activities and exciting prizes. From 4pm-6pm, the plot thickens as there is a prize pack to be given away for each category which includes 4DX and VOX GOLD tickets, here's the storyline:
• Do you know a movie scene off-by-heart? Can you repeat all the lines and act out what happens next? Members from the audience will have the chance to Re-enact A Movie Scene
• If acting isn't really your thing but movie trivia is, then take part in the Movie Trivia Quiz
• Or perhaps your forte is celebrities! Then join in with the Celebrity Name Guessing Game
During the Voscars, VOX Cinemas will be rewarding its best customers from the past 15 years, recognising its loyal cinema going fans who have purchased more cinema tickets at VOX Cinemas than most people in the country – more than 700! The VOX Cinemas top customers will each receive a VOX Cinemas 15 Years of Film prize pack*, with the number one film fanatic receiving an all-expenses paid trip to Hollywood.
On Friday 15th May, from 2pm-10pm, customers can also enjoy the following:
• Movie moments photobooth – Ever pictured yourself as a Gladiator or Superhero? Well now's your chance! Get your photo taken against a backdrop of 15 of the most iconic movies from the past 15 years.
• ‘Here's looking at you, kid' face painting – turn your child Minion yellow for the day or into the latest animation hero.
• Appearances from movie characters – take a selfie with a Storm Trooper or a photo with a princess.
Movie fans from across the Middle East will also see the results from a recent poll where customers were asked to vote for their favourite Hollywood and Bollywood stars and favourite animation characters. The top five in each category will be displayed from 15th May on a ‘Wall' of Fame across all VOX Cinemas locations, including the new Burjuman Mall Cinema, which has 14 screens including four luxurious VOX GOLD cinemas allowing guests to relax and recline in a VIP experience while indulging in a gourmet menu, one VOX Max screen giving audiences the big wide screen cinema experience with the best sound and one specially designed KIDS screen for private parties and children's events.
