UOWD Celebrates Most Successful Sporting Season in 22-year History

8 tournaments, 100 matches, and 30 trophies made it all worthwhile

Dubai, 11 May 2015: The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) have reason to celebrate:the 2014/2015 season was the most successful seasonfor UOWD’s sports teamsin its22-year history. Collaboratively, the teams won 30 trophies after outstanding performancesin eight UAE university tournaments.

The women’s volleyball team, the women’s basketball team and the men’s athletics team clinched an impressive four trophies each over the course of the season. Overall, the women’s teams proved they were a force to be reckoned with, when they bought a notable 14 trophies to UOWD’s campus.

The sports teams celebrated their success with a Victory March across the University’s Knowledge Village campus recently.

Mehdi Zahedian, UOWD’s Sports Coordinator commented: “It’s been a tremendous year for sport at UOWD. We can’t wait to see what next year brings – if the teams continue to be as dedicated as they were this year, great things could be in store.”
