Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Concludes Activities of First Nobel Museum Exhibition in Dubai

•    Thousands of visitors turn out for event that lasted more than a month 

Dubai, May 9, 2015:  Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) concluded the activities of the first Nobel Museum exhibitionin Dubai, bringing the curtain down an event that witnessed large turnout of visitors for more than a month.Organised for the first time in the Middle East under a new theme,‘Nobel Prize: Ideas Changing the World’,the exhibition washosted by MBRF in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of MBRF.

The event provided visitors an ideal platform to learn about the prestigious Nobel Prize,drawing attention tothe most prominent winners as well as inventions and discoveries that have transformed the lives of human beings.

His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, Managing Director of MBRF, said the Nobel Museum exhibition highlighted the Foundation’s key rolein building a society based on knowledge and innovation through events and initiatives that instilled the spirit of creativity inyoung minds.The overwhelming response from the younger generation was a testament to the success of the exhibition, H.E. Huwaireb added.

H.E. Huwaireb said:“The Nobel Museum exhibition attractedthousands of visitors from the various categories, includingschool anduniversity students, tourists, and employees of government departments and associations.The visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to the exhibition last week was a source of great encouragement to the event and inspired the thousands of visitors who were there on the occasion.”

H.E. Huwaireb said the next session of the Nobel Museum exhibition will offer more valuable activities which would benefit all members of the society, and inspire more Emiratis to take the path of innovation and excellence, he added.

A number of events were organised on the sidelines of the Nobel Museum exhibition, most notably a series of specialised workshops led by a group of experts from the Nobel Museum. In one of the workshops, Muhammad Yunus, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006, shared his experiences on micro-finance that contributed to economic and social empowerment of millions of people in the world. 

As part of the activities of the Nobel Museum exhibition, MBRF also organised the Emirati Innovation Day hosting a group of Emirati inventors who spoke about their successful experiences in the field of innovation.   

The exhibition consisted of five pavilions based on five different themes. The first pavilion offered an introduction to the Nobel Prize and its specific areas. The second pavilion was focused on Alfred Nobel, his inventions and how he created the Nobel Prize. The third pavilion, ‘The Nobel Prize Over the Decades’, offered an overview of the history of the Nobel Prize and introduced the Nobel laureates and their work. ‘The Nobel Prize in Our Daily Lives’, the fourth pavilion, demonstrated the relevance of Nobel Prize-awarded efforts in everyday life. The fifth pavilion, ‘The Nobel Prize and the Future’, addressed the question of how Nobel Prize-awarded discoveries may affect the future and what future Nobel Prizes may involve.
