Adionics unveils SMARTEX, the smart desalination solution for Oil & Gas, Food & Beverages and Mining markets. From April 21th to 23rd

United Arab Emirates; 19th of April 2015 - Adionics is pleased to announce, while taking part in the WETEX 2015 exhibition in Dubai, the launch of SMARTEX, a smart desalination solution, which is able to select specific salts in order to address the growing demand coming from Oil & Gaz, Food and Beverages as well as Mining. 

SMARTEX stands for smart extraction and is a declination of AquaOmnes® technology. Adionics revealed this technology on the occasion of the last IFAT fair (Munich, May 2014) and further industrial variants for brines at IWS15. AquaOmnes removes salts from water by liquid-liquid extraction whatever the salinity without the scaling barrier. A first pilot unit is being implemented in the United Arab Emirates to desalt brines. 

The SMARTEX solution is designed to remove selectively cations and/or anions like barium, strontium, calcium, sodium or sulfates while running at ambient pressure. It is to be noted that these benefits are provided with a very low energy consumption and for any salinity grade thanks to the liquid liquid extraction approach.

Thierry Darde, the EVP Sales & Marketing of Adionics said: “Thanks to SMARTEX, in the field of the Oil & Gas business for instance, our solution is able to treat high salinated waters such as produced water and remove some species such as Calcium, Strontium, Barium, Magnesium or sulphates, when other ones, such as Sodium or Chloride are left in the treated water. This new approach in the world of Enhancement Oil Recovery is expected to become a major breakthrough for this industry. Similar development are to take place in other industries such as mining.”

Adionics works currently on partnering with major GCC players to implement the first pilot units of SMARTEX in the Middle East by 2016.
