Abu Dhabi, UAE, April 10, 2015 – Masdar, which is building the world’s most sustainable, low-carbon city, will host this spring’s final Fridays at Masdar City festival, where visitors can join a family-friendly street fair offering a host of free activities and a chance to experience life in a leading hub of innovation and sustainability. The festival takes place at Masdar City on April 10, 2015 from 10am to 7pm.
The ‘Fridays at Masdar City’ festival will combine fun and educational activities for children and adults. Children can take part in a treasure hunt, stage shows and science workshops, and there will be free yoga classes for adults and families. In addition, a market selling crafts, food, organic produce and other items will be open until 4pm.
Dr Nawal Al-Hosany, director of sustainability at Masdar, said: “The Fridays at Masdar City festival offers an opportunity to share the Masdar City vision with UAE residents and create a sense of community that is integral to building the world’s most sustainable city. At Masdar City, we are developing a ‘green print’ for absorbing growing urban populations while reducing resource consumption and addressing three pillars of sustainability – economic, environmental and social.”
Visitors will have two opportunities to tour Masdar City, which takes an ecosystem approach to city planning that encompasses research and development, a technology cluster and a free zone where companies can accelerate and push innovation.
