The Award Winning Classic Broadway Musical Live On Stage In Dubai

From the producers behind Dubai’s smash hit musicals ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’, ‘Oliver!’ and the award winning ‘The Sound of Music’ comes the acclaimed classic musical ANNIE which will run at the Madinat Theatre, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai, 2-17 April 2015.

This wonderful musical ran on Broadway for six years and won the prestigious Tony award for Best Musical. This last year saw the release of the remake of the film version by Sony Pictures starring Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. It’s the story of Little Orphan Annie, a boisterous but lonely eleven year old and her adventures in the depression hit 1930’s New York City. Annie runs away from the clutches of the scheming Miss Hannigan, the orphanage manager, into the open arms of the famous billionaire Oliver Warbucks. The scene is set for a fantastic journey as Annie meets a whole host of new friends, including The President of the United States and chases her dreams if one day having her own parents. This fantastic production features all the classic songs including ‘Maybe’, ‘Tomorrow’, ‘Easy Street’, ‘Little Girls’, ‘Fully Dressed’ and ‘Hard Knock Life’.

The title role of Annie will be shared by local stars Jordan Watton and Nairne Hannah. From the UK and London’s West End the cast includes David Streames (Les Miserables/ Me and My Girl), Ellie Leah (Sister Act/ Beauty and the Beast), Rob Wilshaw (Jersey Boys, Joseph), Jay Bryce (Oliver/Mamma Mia), Georgia Permutt (Meet Me in St Louis/ Pop Factor) and Lucy Hunter-James (The Sound of Music/ Blood Brothers). A wonderful ensemble of UAE performers completes the cast.

ANNIE is Directed and Designed by John Payton, with Choreography by Paul Robinson, Musical Direction by Philip Shute, Costumes by Philippa Batt, Lighting by Dan Creasey and Sound by David Gates. ANNIE is produced by Lucy Magee and John Payton for Popular Productions.
