Abu Dhabi welcomes opening of world-class paintball facility at Zayed Sports City

Paintball adventures over 8,500 sqm of natural bushland for optimum physical endurance

Abu Dhabi, 11 February 2015: A new world-class alternative sports facility has popped up in the UAE’s capital, as Zayed Sports City, the premier sports and entertainment venue in Abu Dhabi, expands its range of diverse sports, launching one the region’s most impressive paintball facilities. With 8,500 sqm of war-like terrain, UAE residents are poised to enjoy one of the world’s most popular alternative sports.

The sprawling park includes three unique zones of fun; the target zone, where paintballers test and refine their marksmanship; speedball, where participants battle with their opposition in a quick fire round of strategy and skill; and the scenario zone, where paintballers compete in full missions to outsmart and outshoot the enemy.

Paintball novices and experts alike will enjoy the experience of armed combat at Zayed Sports City, which provides a full body workout combining aerobic training, strength-training and running exercise. Offering a great cardiovascular workout, paintball improves physical endurance through the combination of running and squatting.

Speaking at the launch, Zayed Sports City General Manager, Barry Bremner said, “We’re delighted to offer the UAE’s fun loving, sporty outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to experience paintball at our world-class facility. Paintball offers participants a healthy workout, which can relieve stress while also promoting teamwork in a fun and interactive atmosphere.  We cater for all levels and while we hope to create competitions for regulars, we guarantee lots of fun for the family too.”

Armed with the latest paintball rifles, participants battle with opponents, ducking and diving to dodge gelatin bullets that travel at speeds of more than 260kph. With space for 40 paintballers at any one time, the new facility creates a fun recreational experience for casual players or an intense strategic challenge for hard core ‘ballers.

Paintball is open for bookings and walk-ins from Tuesday to Thursday, 2pm to 10pm and on Fridays and Saturdays from 12pm to 8pm.

Zayed Sports City already offers local residents a range of alternative sports including Australian Rules Football, American Football, Roller Derby, Softball, Beach Tennis and Aikido. The opening of the new paintball facility increases the number of sports available at Zayed Sports City to 30.
