Tawdheef career fair from 2 – 4 February at ADNEC
Abu Dhabi, UAE: As part of its ongoing commitment to support Emiratis in their career aspirations, Abu Dhabi Ports and Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT), manager and operator of Khalifa Port container terminal, will be exhibiting at Tawdheef, Abu Dhabi’s exclusive career fair for UAE nationals, from 2 – 4 February, at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
Held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, Tawdheef is one of the emirate’s most significant career fairs showcasing a wide range of high profile organisations from different industry sectors.
Abu Dhabi Ports and ADT are looking to fill 61 job openings in the fields of clerical work and port operations, including technical and support functions to successfully manage the container terminal.
“Our participation in Tawdheef will provide Abu Dhabi Ports with an excellent platform to present the organisation and its various development programmes that have been specifically designed for UAE nationals. It will give us the opportunity to personally speak with Emirati job seekers and find out about their career plans and how we can help to turn them into reality”, says Maitha Al Murar, Acting Vice President – Emiratisation, Human Resources and Administration, Abu Dhabi Ports.
“Emiratisation is one of ADT’s top priorities and we are committed to employ UAE nationals in all levels of the organization, ranging from senior and middle management to supervisory and practical roles. Tawdheef provides us with an ideal opportunity to meet with Emirati job seekers in person and discuss ADT’s successful on-job training programme which trains Emiratis for a variety of operational and technical positions at Khalifa Port container terminal”, adds Eisa Hassan Al Marzouqi, Senior Director Human Resources, ADT.
In 2014, ADT almost doubled the number of Emirati employees, while Abu Dhabi Ports achieved an Emiratisation level of 44% across its total workforce. This rate is expected to rise to 47% in 2015.
To support the new jobs for UAE nationals, Abu Dhabi Ports has designed comprehensive training programmes across the full employment spectrum. The most recent example is NAWRUS – “The National Way To Ramp Up Success” – which was launched in December. It is an innovative programme to promote excellence and specifically train UAE nationals for roles in cargo operations, such as port supervisors, port operators and clerks.
The first group of Emiratis joined NAWRAS last December and a second group joined the programme in January.
ADT’s on-job training programme for UAE Nationals, which was implemented two years ago, currently prepares 22 trainees for the next step in their
Careers. The programme has been designed to provide fast-track career opportunities at Khalifa Port container terminal and encourages fresh talents to realise their full potential.
