Tamayyaz hosts first of three sessions on ‘Leading with Emotional Intelligence’
Dubai, UAE, 20 January 2015 - The Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC), the official representative organization for business women, both professionals and entrepreneurs, in the Emirate of Dubai, kick started the New Year with a three-part Network Majlis series on Emotional Intelligence.Rita Rizk, Managing Partner at Tamayyaz hosted the first session on ‘Leading with Emotional Intelligence’.
“We welcome the New Year with a great Network Majlis series which will equip our members with the important leadership skills to prepare them for the lucrative year ahead of us,” said Mrs. Raja Al Gurg, President of DBWC. “Every leader should evolve her own emotional intelligence as it enables you to process emotional information and use it to navigate your environment. This skill gives you more control as you can relate to and understand a situation clearer so that you can make better decisions and provide relevant guidance.”
Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to monitor one's own and other people's emotions, to discriminate between different emotions and label them appropriately, and to use emotional information to guide thinking and behaviour. Some studies have even shown that people with high EI have greater mental health, exemplary job performance, and more potent leadership skills
Leading the first session, Ritaprovided the members with an overview of emotional intelligence and its competency framework. The half-day workshop also studied self-awareness by understanding the brain and the Johari Window Model, while members got the insights on how to develop emotional control techniques.
Rita is a qualified Occupational Psychologist and a Certified Psychometric Assessor from the British Psychology Society and a Certified European test user in Work and Organizational Assessment from EFPA. She is also a certified Myers-Briggs (MBTI) coach and practitioner, DDI (USA) competences for facilitation, Novation (USA) for talent development, 360 degrees (UK) coach and a certified Train the Trainer from 360 (USA). She is currently working with national and international companies and organizations throughout the Middle East and Africa to train and develop their senior leaders for the future.
“We hope that this three-part series on emotional intelligence will provide insightful skills to our members over the next three months as we aim to help grow and nurture our network of female leaders and ambitious entrepreneurs,” concluded Mrs. Al Gurg.
The next two highly interactive workshops in this three-part series will take place on two different dates: 24 February and 2 April and are specifically designed to introduce newly promoted managers to leadership tools and best practices allowing them to succeed their new roles and responsibilities. The workshops will also raise the awareness of participants on Emotional Intelligence and use it to manage and lead their teams in an Emotionally Intelligent way.
