Abu Dhabi, 17 November 2014: Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) was recently awarded the “Nationalisation Initiative of the Year” for its ‘Tamooha’ initiative by the Middle East HR Excellence Awards. Every year, the Middle East HR Excellence Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of individuals, departments, teams or organizations that have contributed to the growth and development of the Middle East HR profession.
Launched in June 2014, ‘Tamooha’ is the UAE’s first dedicated programme to support the career path of Emarati Women in line with the Abu Dhabi Economic vision 2030, and Absher, the initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to enhance labour market participation of UAE citizens. ‘Tamooha’ initiative provides job opportunities that suit women’s social norms and family responsibilities by enabling them to choose to work from, or near, their own home or in ADCB’s dedicated women-only operations center in Al Ain.
On the occasion, Ali Darwish, Head-Human Resources Group at ADCB said: “We are proud to be the first bank to provide a unique career structure that enables Emarati women to join the workforce while meeting their everyday life responsibilities. With Tamooha, we wanted to add real value to our community by implementing an innovative way of working. We are very pleased and humbled to receive this award today and will continue to grow the initiative to help the UAE develop a robust local workforce for a bright and ambitious future.”

ADCB’s Tamooha initiative will continue to empower Emarati women in banking sector roles.
