Roger Dubuis at Watches & Wonders 2014: A fresh chance to shine on a glittering Asian stage
Last Update: Sunday, August 31, 2014 : 18:52 (+4GMT)
Manufacture Roger Dubuis is delighted and proud to be taking part in the second edition of Asia’s finest Haute Horlogerie Exhibition to be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 30th to October 2nd 2014. Last year was a real success and the Maison is confident that this year will prove even more appealing to visitors, with the presentation of an innovative Hommage concept entirely adapted to the configuration of the new Roger Dubuis booth, along with a sparkling array of glamorous Velvet – Haute Joaillerie creations.
Clearly looking forward to Watches&Wonders 2014, CEO Jean-Marc Pontroué enthused: “We have many natural afinities with Asia and our clients in the region are extremely discerning and demanding when it comes to the world of Haute Horlogerie. They will not be disappointed this year with a range of creations for both men and women highlighting our outstanding mechanical expertise as well as the inimitably unconventional Roger Dubuis approach to design.”
The year’s key launch is the reinvigorated Hommage collection – whose name and nature are a salute to the history of horology and its most admirable exponents. The 2014 range includes a number of automatic and chronograph models, along with a dedicated Hommage Flying Tourbillon Tribute to Mr Roger Dubuis, the founder and ‘soulmaker’ of the Manufacture whose signature appears on each of the timepieces in this collection. Visitors to Watches&Wonders 2014, who will enjoy a closer look at the Hommage Double Flying Tourbillon with Hand-made guilloché, are bound to be struck by its audacious combination of traditional and modern craftsmanship, along with intense graphic appeal and intricate detailing. They will also be treated to a world preview of an exceptional creation that will enrich the Hommage collection and is sure to delight Asian watchmaking enthusiasts and collectors.
A Roger Dubuis booth is always an experience in itself, and the one at Watches&Wonders 2014 is no exception. Created to mark the renaissance of the Hommage collection, it pays its own unique tribute to horology through a combination of mechanical beauty and organic creativity inspired by the steampunk age. Diverting the iconic cuckoo clock and even the classic Swiss chalet, and introducing a fascinating series of watchmaker-automata to evoke the history of watchmaking, the booth will provide a chance to quite literally enter the incredible world of Hommage: that of Incredible Mechanics.
As a natural follow-on from the “Goodbyecuckoo #Helloextraordinary” digital teasing campaign that created a considerable buzz in the social media during the run-up to the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie 2014, Roger Dubuis will be launching a set of eight new films to be unveiled daily from September 21st to 28th and marking the countdown to Watches&Wonders 2014. This campaign will feature the same offbeat artistic and creative approach as its predecessor, but with an intriguing Asian twist. It will be backed by full use of the social media spectrum that is particularly widely used in Asia (WeChat, Sina Weibo, Youku, YouTube, Instagram), as well as promoted by word of mouth via key regional opinion leaders.
Roger Dubuis enjoys a well-established presence in Asia and its numerous Boutiques, including the recently opened store in Hong Kong’s Central District ifc Mall, are looking forward to welcoming guests on the occasion of Watches&Wonders 2014.
