Movie Mania grabs the spotlight at City Centre Deira

Shoppers to City Centre Deira were left thoroughly entertained with the amazing live show featuring about a dozen international performers who took to the stage for Movie Mania, a  spectacular song-and-dance event that was hosted by the mall, as part of the 'Eid in Dubai - Eid Al Fitr' celebrations and ‘Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).

Movie Mania, which concluded its final show on 3 August,  was a fitting tribute to the most celebrated soundtracks of all times. Visitors of all ages enjoyed the biggest hits of the past decades including Hairspray’s ‘You Can’t Stop the Beat’ and Slumdog Millionaire’s ‘Jai Ho’.  Themed around a starry movie awards night, the show gave mall-goers the opportunity to be a part of the musical event as the host announced the ‘award nominees’ for the ‘Best All-Time Movie Soundtrack’ while playing the live clips of the soundtrack before an excited audience. 

One of those who enjoyed the show was  Kapil Bhatia, an Indian national who brought along his children, Seema and Dhruv, to the in-mall event.  He said: "I love the vibe in the shopping malls in Dubai during the festivities. They come alive with wonderful shows like this one which my children absolutely adored. City Centre Deira is an amazing mall with its holiday decorations and offers and this show is just the icing on the cake."

Indeed, most families to the mall agreed that the entertainment line-up at City Centre Deira continues to be world-class. Emeka Mbaneme from Nigeria, said, "My kids and I enjoy coming to Dubai during the holidays. It is busy with people who like to celebrate a good break. This mall, right now, is filled with happy faces.

Also, this show is quite a great way to add smiles on the faces of shoppers. It's the perfect break to all the shopping, walking and eating we do around here."

The 17th edition of Dubai Summer Surprises is organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). DSS commenced on 2 August and will run until 5 September, under the theme, “The Fun Side of Summer.”
