Sharjah Media Centre and Bavarian-Arab Society Sign MoU

UAE-Sharjah/Sharjah Media Centre: June 29, 2014 - Sharjah Media Centre (SMC) and Munich-based Bavarian-ArabSociety signed in Sharjah a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for boosting media cooperation and exchange of knowledge and skills between the two sides.

Inked by Osama Samra, Director of SMC, and Salah Elenany, Deputy Board Chairman of the Arab-Bavaria Friendship Society, the MoU aims at strengthening bonds of friendship in media sector through exchange of visits by media persons as well as monitoring and translation of their works.

Samra said the MoU “comes out of Sharjah Media Centre’s keenness to achieve its strategic goals of promoting Sharjah’s presence in the German media and business sector, and highlighting its achievements at the local and international levels.”

Under the MoU, SMC will supply the Society's office at Munich International Airport with publications on UAE for publishing them in German media. The two sides will also coordinate efforts in regards to organisation of conferences, forums and other events at the International Press Club of Munich. Training and events like exhibitions are other important areas of joint cooperation between SMC and the Society.

The two sides will hold joint activities and programmes that serve the objectives of the MoU and will share information, studies, consultations and reports of common interest.

Each of them will inform its employees and members of the important role the other side plays and the programmes, activities, events and seminars it holds.

Samra confirmed the importance of this MoU, which emanates from SMC’s vision in promoting international cooperation and spotlighting the true image of Sharjah.

He indicated that SMC visited major international media institutions and entered into agreements with them. These agreements, according to Samra, will direct international attention to Sharjah’s initiatives and projects which are aimed at increasing tourist, media and investment attraction and boosting cultural and media convergence.

For his part, Elenany asserted the Arab-Bavaria Friendship Society’s interest in the developments witnessed by Sharjah, which require that the Emirate be highlighted on an international level. He pointed to the role played by SMC in conveying Sharjah’s message to the entire world and strengthening its presence on the global map.
