ADIPEC's 11thAnnual Oil Baron's CharityBall Raises AED 700,000 for UAE's ‘Friends of Cancer Patients' Society

Event Patron, H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Officially Presents Cheque, Bringing Historical Tally to AED 4.2 Million

ABU DHABI, UAE – 10 June 2014 –UAE cancer sufferers have been given a huge boost, thanks to the on-going generosity of the region’s energy sector and its largest related annual charity event.

H.E Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister for Culture, Youth, and Social Development – and Patron of ADIPEC’s Annual Oil Baron’s Charity Ball – officially presented a cheque of AED 700,000 to the UAE’s Friends of Cancer Patients society (FoCP), bringing the total historical amount raised by ADIPEC’s organizer, DMG Events, to AED 4.2 million.

The significant donation will be used by the FoCP to fund its various cancer-related initiatives, including supporting patients for costly cancer treatments in the UAE and abroad.

H.E Sheikh Nahyan praised the growing support for the UAE’s FoCP, which, he said, was evident through the increasing number of funds that are being collected for the society each year.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Ameera Binkaram President of the Board of Trustees and a founding member of the Friends of Cancer Patients society (FoCP) said: “I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks for the generosity and the emotional and financial support shown every year by the patron and the sponsors of the Oil Baron’s Charity Ball.”

Firmly established as one of the world’s top three energy events, ADIPEC 2014 will mark its 30th anniversary in 2014, run from 10-13 November, be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and be supported by the Ministry of Energy, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and the Abu Dhabi Chamber.

The Oil Baron’s Charity Ball is one of the region’s largest gala dinners, and one of the highlights of the UAE’s social calendar, as well as a leading oil and gas event in the Middle East.

More than 1,500 guests, including prominent public figures, dignitaries, and business leaders, participated in the 11th edition of the Oil Baron’s Charity Ball held in February.
