14% rise in parcels and 25% increase in EMS volumes since signing of the agreement
Dubai, April 2, 2014: Emirates Post Group has reported a significant increase in parcels and EMS (Express Mail Service) shipments since signing a strategic agreement with Emirates airline in November 2013, mainly due to the airline’s frequent and extensive connectivity to destinations in Europe, Indian Subcontinent, China, the Philippines and GCC countries.
Following the far-reaching agreement, transit times for all key markets have been reduced by two to three days. As a result the delivery of parcels and EMS shipments to these markets takes just four to five days, (instead of six to seven days earlier), offering a far speedier service at low rates.
“Our strategic alliance with Emirates Airline has helped us significantly reduce the transit times because of the airline’s multiple flights with exceptional frequency,” said Mr. Ibrahim Bin Karam, Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates Post Group. “With this agreement, our transit times for parcels and EMS shipments are just two days more than a courier operator. We believe this delivers great value for our corporate and individual customers.”
In the first two months of 2014, parcels booked at Emirates Post offices saw an increase of 14 %, and EMS witnessed a jump of 25 %, compared to the corresponding period in 2013, Mr. Bin Karam said.
The upgraded parcel and EMS service represents a huge bonanza to the large expatriate population of the UAE. Customers can send parcels and documents to the Indian Subcontinent (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka), Europe (UK, France, Germany, Russia), China and Philippines in four or five days.
Similarly, parcels and EMS documents to Africa (Sudan, Morocco, Algeria and Ghana) can be sent in five or six days.
Closer home, parcels and EMS documents to GCC countries can be reached in two to three days. Incidentally, Saudi Arabia is Emirates Post’s No. 1 EMS destination.
“Emirates Post Group is constantly striving to give our customers value for money. The tie-up with Emirates airline considerably raises the bar on our parcel and EMS services, offering a speedy service at prices that are far lower than those offered by courier companies,” said Mr. Bin Karam.
“Another plus point is that our customers can dispatch parcels and EMS documents from any of our 117 post offices spread across the length and breadth of the country. More importantly, our post offices offer extended timings, as most of them being open from 7 am to 9 pm,” added Mr. Bin Karan.
Emirates Post has been experiencing rapid increase in parcel and EMS volumes over the past few years, fuelled by the growing demand from expatriates wishing to send parcels to their home countries and corporates looking for cost-effective delivery solutions for their documents.
