Pairing Luxuries at “The Park”

DUBAI, UAE, 31 MARCH 2014 - Pair the luxury of single malt with exquisite cigars at The Terrace at Park Hyatt Dubai from 1 to 30 April. 

The sense of smell is one of the most sophisticated of the senses and nosing a fine Scotch whisky is an experience treasured by many. Tasting is of course, the ultimate joy.

Made from only one type of grain, in this case malt, and distilled in one distillery, single malt is exceptional.  The age statement on the bottle is the age of the youngest malt in the mix and it is not uncommon for single malts to be left to mature for 20 or more years. 

At The Terrace, a selection of some of Scotland's finest – Dalwhinnie, Dalmore, Glenkinchie, Isle of Jura, Talisker, and Dalmore – has been assembled and paired with cigars from Montecristo, Cohiba and Hoyo de Monterrey.

Prices start at AED105 for the Dalmore 12-year-old paired with a Montecristo Joyitas, while the highlight of the pairing list is the 21-year-old Isle of Jura and Cohiba Esplendido at AED355.  Guests who spend AED500 per person will receive complimentary tapas at the Dubai restaurant.  

“To truly appreciate single malt, it is recommended to enjoy it neat, although aficionados suggest that, if you must mix it, you should use a still mineral water from the same origin as the distillery,” says Hans Gfrei, Director of Food and Beverage at Park Hyatt Dubai.

“A big sin is masking the true flavour of your single malt with dry ginger ale, coca cola or soda.  Even tap water can distort the flavours,” he adds.

The Terrace is the ideal venue to relax and enjoy the sunset overlooking the marina.  A daily à la carte menu is offered from 12:00 noon to 1:00 am, except on Fridays, when food is served until 2:00 am.
