Five-star hotel provided food with proceeds towards fund-raising

Hotel staff helps organizers as volunteers

Dubai, March 9, 2014:  Several employees of TAMANI Marina Hotel turned up as volunteers at the Al Noor Hope for Children Family Fun Fair-2014 with the five-star property being one of the sponsors of the fund-raising initiative for the Children with Special Needs in Dubai.

The participation is in line with the TAMANI Care designed to enhance the contribution of Dubai’s premium hospitality brand in the socially-relevant causes and initiatives in the UAE. The fun-filled family event was held at the al Noor Training Centre premises behind Mall of the Emirates in Al Barsha on Friday (February 28).

Operating under the auspices of the UAE’s Ministry of Social Affairs, the not-for-profit organisation has been providing quality and professional training to the Special Needs community of Dubai for the past 32 years.  The centre takes care of children with challenges such as Down’s syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Autism through a trans-disciplinary training programme. In addition to teaching, it offers Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychological Services, Sports and Music.

Walid Al-Awa, General Manager, TAMANI Marina Hotel, said: “Under TAMANI Cares initiative, we have been actively involved in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. It is our responsibility to get involved with all the community awareness and betterment programmes. We believe our efforts will help contribute towards fund raising efforts by Al Noor Training Centre and also inspire others to follow.”

TAMANI Marina Hotel and Hotel Apartment provided a variety of food items for the event whose sale proceeds will go towards Al Noor’s fund-raising for Special Needs community initiatives. The hotel staff was enthusiastic about their participation in the event as volunteers throughout the event which took place from 10 am to 10 pm, he said.

Through the Family Fun Fair, Al Noor Training Centre generates funds for its programmes. The cost of training one child is approximately over AED60, 000 per year whilst Al Noor charges a 40 per cent subsidized fee of only AED 35,000. Further, almost 22 per cent of the families do not pay the already subsidized fee. To overcome the fund shortages, the Centre undertakes corporate or individual sponsorship in addition to hosting fund-raising events.

A variety of entertainment activities including all-time favorites such as face painting, bouncy castles, games, rides, bazaars, quizzes, raffle draws, variety of food stalls and other recreational activities were conducted. The Food Court offered everything from Indian cuisine to Chinese cuisine to excellent deli offerings to pastries and more. The Food Court catered to more than 5,000 attendees of the Fun Fair. Over the years, top hotels and restaurants of Dubai have been the vendors at the Food Court with all proceeds benefitting the Al Noor students.

The all-suites luxury-defining property has 245 units spread over 55 stories in the picturesque Dubai Marina and overlooking The Palm. It has been actively participating in several community-related programmes organised by organisations like Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai Municipality and Emirates Environment Group (EEG).
