Innovator 2014 Interactive Event This Saturday in Abu Dhabi

UAE -Based DIYers will showcase their creative talents at First Gulf Bank (FGB) Arena from 12PM – 8PM

Visitors will get the chance to see exciting shows, inspiring speakers and interactive experiences at this for free one-day event

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 5 March 2014: INNOVATOR 2014 will open its doors to the public this Saturday, the 8th of March at the First Gulf Bank Arena at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi. A new initiative organized by the Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee (TDC), the landmark event brings together more than 400 UAE based talented individuals (“DIYers”- Do it Yourself) and showcases their homegrown innovations, technology projects and prototypes to event visitors.

Visitors will be able to interact with DIYers and examine their projects and prototypes that were developed across a spectrum of science, technology, engineering and art. The INNOVATOR 2014 interactive programme includes inspiring speakers such as Mohammed Saeed Hareb, Director of Freej & Freej Folklore; Marcin Jakubwoski, Technologist and the founder of ‘Open Source Ecology’; and Cameron D. Robertson, a pioneer in the emerging field of human-powered aviation, the creator of ‘human-powered helicopter’, and a past TEDx speaker. In addition, INNOVATOR will bring interactive experiences such as The Arachnobot by Tim Davis, a Human Powered Giant Spider, and exciting shows featuring the Innovator Spotlight and demo sessions by UAE based duo Olly Wood & Greg Stainer ‘Hollaphonic’.

Two notable awards will also be presented at the event. The INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR award for the best idea of an innovation will be selected by a panel of INNOVATOR mentors, and have a total value of AED 40,000 towards a development fund.  Visitors will also have the chance to vote for their favorite project in the PEOPLE’S CHOICE award, where the winner will receive an AED 20,000 development fund. Award winners will be announced at an award ceremony that will be held at 8PM on March 8th. Come experience this unique, exciting event and vote for your favorite project.
