Ministry of Education signs MoU with Information City to implement ‘Educate a Child, Build a Nation' initiative

[UAE, March 5, 2014] - The UAE Ministry of Education has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Information City, an entity specializing in creating and delivering exclusive events in Dubai, to support the implementation of the “Educate a Child, Build a Nation” initiative. H.E. Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, Minister of Education, UAE and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of Information City, signed the MoU with an aim to offer students with opportunities to develop skills for information systems by establishing Student’s Science Camps across the UAE.
The memorandum aims to provide students with proper skills and tools, which will enable them to stay updated with the rapid developments in information systems. The move ensures that UAE society will be composed of Nationals who are able to understand, operate and work with the continuous technological challenges. According to the terms of the MoU, the Ministry is committed to determine the timing and number of days of the annual science camp as well as prepare target groups, suggestion of the programs and activities associated with the camp. In addition, it will also develop questionnaires, statistics and annual reports, organize meetings and specialized workshops and nominate educators who are qualified to participate and render supervisory work.
From its part, Information City, is committed to scout for appropriate places for the proposed science camps. It will also organize various programs and training workshops that will focus on information systems as well as joint activities in the field of learning and educational projects. Besides hosting meetings and specialized workshops, Information City will also provide technical support and consultancy for the development of these programs, which will benefit the education field and the nomination of names of qualified trainers.
