Novices to fight for ‘White Collar' rights

White Collar Boxing organiser Transguard Group calls for potential contenders to attend their ‘open day' at Dubai's KO gym and register for fight night XII in May
 
Following yet another highly successful White Collar fight night in November, which attracted over 700 avid fight fans, the event organiser, Transguard Group is now preparing for its twelfth edition on Friday 23rd May 2014.

A call for entries is being made with a special ‘open day' at the highly respected KO Gym in Dubai Marina on Saturday 8th March at 2pm, which is intended to give every wannabe Rocky Balboa, some idea of just how hard ‘gym life' really is and the commitment required to become a genuine Fight Night contender.
 
According to White Collar Boxing, organiser Mark Povey more than 50 applications have already been received for White Collar XII, some straight after the previous event in November.

“With sky-high testosterone levels, many high-spirited members of the audience approach me at the end of White Collar fight nights, wanting to sign-up for the next event. I always like to give them a cooling off period, but it is amazing even long after the adrenalin rush has finished, just how many do actually turn up to our open days.” 

The intensive eight-week training programme which starts in earnest on Saturday 29th March 2014 will put all contestants through an intensive physical and technical training programme. Applicants are assessed under the watchful eye of professional trainers and boxing coaches, with competitor safety and welfare a priority. Subsequently contestants are equally matched during the selection process to ensure a fair fight on the night.

White Collar Fight Night XII takes place on Friday 23rd May 2014 in the Andalous Ballroom at the Habtoor Grand Hotel, Dubai. The black tie dinner offers an exciting programme of interactive entertainment, culminating in up to ten bouts under the supervision of a professional referee. The event also helps support Transguard's chosen charity, Christel House India.

“White Collar Boxing was created for complete boxing novices. The focus, discipline and values, which are essential to surviving in the ring, can be applied to any white collar working environment - contestants can draw whatever parallels they feel are appropriate,” said Povey.

White Collar Boxing originated in Gleasons Gym, New York, in 1988. The first contest was held between Dr Richard Novak, an attorney and veterinarian, and Dr David Lawrence who held a PhD in English literature. After the contest the two went to dinner to celebrate the birth of a new sport.
