Under the Kind Patronage of H.H. Sheikha Wafa Hasher Al Maktoum FAKiE#3 - A Skateboard Dexhibition - To Open this Week at FN Designs

Under the Kind Patronage of H.H. Sheikha Wafa Hasher Al Maktoum FN Designs will showcase from January 30 to February 28, 2014, the third edition of FAKiE#3 - a skateboard dexhibition. First held in 2010 with a reoccurrence in 2012, the exhibition has always been popular and this time features works of 21 locally-based artists including H.H. Sheikha Wafa Hasher Al Maktoum, who have used new or broken skate decks as their canvas.

With a variety of media, the diverse pool of artists have transformed the unconventional objects into striking pieces of art for the exhibition. H.H. Sheikha Wafa Hasher Al Maktoum, founder and director of FN Designs, stated, "Art for us has no boundaries. We do it because we love it. Therefore we accept all art forms. FAKiE#3 is unusual in many ways and portrays the unexpected. It is truly interesting to see how each artist has experimented and expressed his or her ideas on a skateboard and it leads to a fundamental question 'What inspired each one?' By transposing a skateboard into a canvas, an artist's experience goes well beyond the 'everyday' and contributes to understanding surrealist sensibilities.

Intense in detail, it haunts our imagination beyond a few moments and I truly hope people will enjoy it". The preview of the exhibition will be held on Thursday, January 30 from 5.30pm to 9.30pm at FN Designs sprawling gallery located in Unit 26 in Alserkal Avenue in Al Quoz 1 in Dubai and will be attended by a select group of art lovers. The event is supported by HMH - Hospitality Management Holdings, Coral Deira - Dubai, Jeremy Amalric (Flowevents), Rage, Dubai World Trade Center and MPJ - Marketing Pro-Junction. Laurent A.
