IOSH hosts seminar in Dubai

IOSH, the leading international safety organisation, hosted a seminar at Intersec 2014 which is the largest safety and security event held in the Middle East.

The UK-based Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), now fast-expanding in the UAE, Oman and Qatar, brought together worldwide experts to help organisations achieve better health and safety standards.

IOSH CEO Jan Chmiel introduced the IOSH Occupational Health Seminar on 20 January 2014 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, where Intersec is being held (19 -21 January).

IOSH turned the spotlight on topics related to Occupational Health that are vital to the Middle East region. The seminar programme included subjects such as social responsibility and health implications of noise exposure in the workplace.

“Workplace health and safety is a matter that is of prime importance in a region which is in the midst of a period of sustained infrastructural and commercial growth,” said Jan Chmiel, CEO of IOSH. “Summits such as these play a significant role in raising awareness about the value of a safe work environment,” he added.

The symposium aims to enable occupational safety and health practitioners to be more effective in preventing work-related ill health. They are also ideally placed to promote greater awareness of health and safety issues across the Middle East.
