Four day fun fitness extravaganza, Abu Dhabi Alive kicks off
Abu Dhabi, UAE, 27 November 2013: The UAE's most exciting fitness and lifestyle event opened its doors today at Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi for thousands of visitors to take advantage of live fitness classes and sports activities, free health consultations and giveaways as well as a host of competitions.
Abu Dhabi Alive is now open from 11:00am to 8:00pm, until 30 November, and has something for everyone. Dubai Drums made sure the opening went off with a bang as they performed a live drum “orchestra” show, presented on the main stage followed by the Over Boys All Stars Baby Gangstas Show brought to you by Activelife by Daman, Principal Sponsor of the event – an incredible break dance demonstration.
Dr. Sven Rohte, Chief Commercial Officer at Daman, said: “We are delighted with the response to Daman's Activelife initiative. Through Abu Dhabi Alive, we aim to provide the Abu Dhabi community with opportunities to sample different activities in the hope they will find the perfect fit for their lifestyle, resulting in them adopting fun, enjoyable ways to increase their fitness levels and, more importantly remain healthy for the future.”
Friday's timetable is set to be jam packed with exciting activities. Daman is offering freestyle break dancing classes from 2.30pm in the dedicated activity area, while in the ladies tent, there will be Yoga by Anahata between 4.00pm and 4.20pm and a massage workshop from 6.00pm. Gold's Gym and Get Moving will also offer body attack, body combat, and Zumba classes throughout the show.
“We've been overwhelmed with the number of visitors on the opening day,” said Hayete Jemai, Exhibition Director at Informa Exhibitions. “Abu Dhabi Alive is in its first year and it is great to have received such a positive response from people who are looking for ways in which to change their lives for the better. We've also seen a great number of people here today who want to know how they can boost their current fitness levels.
“Our government partner, Abu Dhabi Sports Council is sharing best practice knowledge on how to run and manage sport clubs and institutions and we have a host of other exhibitors on hand to offer advice on ways to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.”
Attendees can look forward to talks from specialist experts such as Dr. Berka from DNA Health whose presentation ‘Get the skinny on fat' will shed light on weight management, cooking demonstrations by Slim'n'Lite and dance shows performed by Get Moving. Ahdaaf Sports Club's certified coaches will also be offering football coaching for all ages and varying skill levels on the football field.
Health and nutrition experts are available for one-to- one informal chats with visitors who prefer privacy, helping them take the right step towards changing their lifestyle.
Free entry is available to everyone, while a charge of AED5 for one day is applied to those who wish to use the facilities such as the climbing wall, bowling centre, tennis courts, beach tennis and football field. Certified coaches will be on hand to assist with all the activities. A two and three day pass, inclusive of facility access, is only AED10.
Abu Dhabi Alive is supported by principal sponsor Activelife by Daman, government partner, Abu Dhabi Sports Council and official media partner The National, while other media partners include Awakenings, BBC Good Food Middle East magazine, FitnessLink, NoviPlus, ‘good' magazine, Good Health Arabia, Physique TV, Sport 360 and Yogalife.
