SMC Launches Second Phase of Government Communication Enhancement Project

Sharjah Media Centre-Sharjah-UAE: November 4, 2013 - The Government Communication Unit (GCU) of Sharjah Media Centre (SMC) has launched the second phase of its Sharjah Government Communication Enhancement Project, which emanated from the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

The launch meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi, Chairman of SMC, and in the presence of Osama Samra, Director of SMC, as well as a number of communication professionals from the government entities included in the second phase of the project.


Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi affirmed his confidence in the capabilities and commitment of the members of the second phase of the GCU's project, which is entirely aimed at serving the interests of Sharjah and keeping pace with its successive achievements within the context of an effective and constructive government communication.

The Chairman of SMC cited that the GCU launched the second phase in continuation of its journey towards a solid government communication base in Sharjah with outputs beneficial to all emirates.

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi asserted SMC's commitment to supporting the second phase of the Sharjah Government Communication Enhancement Project, calling on all government entities to provide their cooperation to help lay out a unified government communication policy in Sharjah, thus enhancing the emirate's presence.

During the meeting, Osama Samra gave a presentation about launching the second phase of the project, which includes 13 Sharjah government entities, namely the Directorate of Human Resources, Directorate of Town Planning and Survey, Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Sharjah Transport Authority, Department of Information and E-Government, Sharjah Media Corporation, Central Finance Department, City for Humanitarian Services, Environment Agency and Natural Reserves and Sharjah Art Foundation, as well as the Department of Seaports and Customs, Sharjah Museums Department and Sharjah Airport Authority. Samra introduced the representatives of the said entities to the GCU and its achievements, as well as its role in the communication process and how it facilitates contacting the target audience. He also gave a glimpse of the government bodies involved in the first phase of the project and outlined the objectives and mechanism of the program.
