Dubai Music Week, a venture between partners, Global Gumbo Group (G3) and DXB Live, in collaboration with Dubai World Trade Centre, officially opened today (September 24) to reveal multiple entertainment stages and exhibits showing the latest technology influencing the music industry.
“The vibe in the building is great - you can feel the energy as sound checks were being completed in preparation for opening night” says Executive Director of G3, Taymoor Marmarchi. “The studio-like set up on the stage in the Emirates Theatre creates a very up-close and personal feel for the audience attending the seminars.”
Opening night of Dubai Music Week is the first night of competition for Nikotin, Run Junction, J-Fam, Reset String, Empty Chair and Adonis. Fans can vote for their favourite band by visiting www.pepsibandslam.com. The winner of the four night competition will be announced on September 28th and they will take centre stage to open the free Pepsi Arabic Night on Sunday night.
“It is wonderful to hear Sheikh Saeed Hall filled with the sounds of music of all genres” commented Issam Kazim, Director, DXB Live. “The free entry to the music exhibition allows Dubai Music Week to be a destination activity for the entire family.”
Will.i.am and Timbaland are the stars to spot at Dubai Music Week on Wednesday and Thursday.
The two music producers will join moderator Ben Fong-Torres and music legend Quincy Jones on Wednesday, September 25, 8:00 PM for the Emirates Quincy Jones Seminar: The Producers Panel. By the conclusion of the evening, the industry's most sought after producers will choose the next Arab crossover star. The five finalists, Hamdan Al Abri, Xriss Jor, Jaywud, DD Foxx and Nile are competing for the coveted prize of a contract from Quincy Jones to produce one international hit song and music video through his joint venture company Global Gumbo Group (G3), in partnership with Sony Music Middle East.
Will.i.am and Timbaland return for the All-Stars Live Performance on Thursday, September 26, 10:00 PM. They will be joined by DJ Cassidy who has entertained everyone from President Barack Obama and Kim Kardashian to Jay-Z and Oprah Winfrey.
Dubai Music Week continues through to September 29th. Doors open daily at 12:00 PM with free entrance to the music exhibition.
