World-famous Production ‘Cinderella on Ice' to Enchant Abu Dhabi Audiences in October

Abu Dhabi-UAE: 5 August, 2013 – Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre is set to host the world-famous and spectacular production ‘Cinderella on Ice' in a breath-taking fusion of ice skating, dance, ballet, gymnastics and acrobatics to portray a novel twist to the classic fairy-tale.

This sophisticated production will boast creative and powerful story-telling, impressive sets, opulent costumes and spectacular special effects, including fire, rain and aerial stunts. Performed by the award-winning Imperial Ice Stars, ‘Cinderella on Ice' will take centre-stage from 02 - 05 October at a custom built 170 - sq. metre ice rink.

Six shows have been scheduled for the 145-minute production. Curtains will go up on 2 - 3 October at 7:00pm, while the shows scheduled for Friday, 4 October are slotted for 3:00pm and 7:30pm. The show on Saturday, 5 October will admit audiences at 11:00am and 3:30pm.

In the adapted production, Cinderella is a humble chorus dancer who is thrust into the spotlight as a prima ballerina and captivates the Lord Mayor's handsome son, the most eligible bachelor in town, with her graceful performance. Her ballerina stepsisters vie to steal his heart with rival attempts that are engineered with true villainy by Cinderella's stepmother who is the local ballet mistress. Ultimately, true love triumphs with the help of the magical powers of the Gypsy Fortune Teller and Cinderella's kindly father, the town's watchmaker.

Cinderella on Ice has been conceived and choreographed by the award-winning team of Tony Mercer, globally acclaimed creator of contemporary theatre on ice, and Evgeny Platov, dual Olympic gold medallist and four-time world champion. The creative team also includes Alexei Nemov, quadruple Olympic gymnastics gold medallist, and the two-time Bulgarian world champion duo, Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski.
